Plant Consideration

G'day we're coming into the cooler months so the perfect time for planting bare root trees and other fruit trees

It gives them the chance to settle in why it's cool and there's still some chance of moisture before their first summer when it's hot and dry

We get a lot of questions as to how many fruit trees can I feed and how do I lay them out in a garden?

The important thing for all fruit trees that we grow is light and air.

So make sure that any that you grow are not going to overshadow their neighbours and so you're always getting light in the air and that can be done through training and pruning and the selection of smaller growing fruit trees.

Plant Placement

When selecting and planting your new fruit trees consider their mature size.

You want to make sure that when you're planting them and laying them out at your place you have a good three meters between most varieties to trust so you're not at their mature size starving them out for light and good airflow.

Pollination

 Some fruit trees like pears and apples require a pollinator.

There are universal pollinators, so with Apples, Jonathan is a very reliable universal pollinator and with Pear – Williams Bon Chretienis, a very reliable universal pollinator.

It used to be that you didn't have to worry so much because you know bees flying distance from the hive the likelihood would be you'd have a suitable pollinator to your single tree somewhere in the area, now what's happening more and more so, is people are subdividing, they're bulldozing old Gardens and a lot of these pollinators are disappearing so it's a good thing to make sure you have that security of pollination and select two varieties and fit them in your yard.
