Seed Production Hand
The Diggers Club is Australia's largest gardening club with a substantial mail order business, four retail stores and two gardens. Based on the Mornington Peninsula, this growing business requires a seed production hand to assist the Trials and Production Team Leader in the day-to-day operations of the farm, including caring for crops, maintaining farm infrastructure, and supporting the production of organic seed and fresh produce.
This is a Full-time position, 7 am-3 pm, Monday-Friday
Key Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Assist the Trials and Production Team Leader with general farm operations.
- Carry out planting, field preparation, irrigation, crop care, and weed management using organic farming principles.
- Harvest, transport, and handle crops safely and efficiently.
- Maintain farm equipment, tools, and structures in good working order.
- Support the upkeep of farm facilities, including green waste management to organic standards.
- Ensure farm areas are kept to a high standard of presentation and cleanliness.
- Assist with crop monitoring, record keeping, and basic documentation as required.
- Grow and maintain produce for events, displays, and seasonal tastings.
- Contribute to the training and support of seasonal staff and volunteers.
- Perform other duties as directed by the Farm Team Leaders.
