At Heronswood, we aim to make our gardens, nursery, café and gallery welcoming and accessible for everyone. While our site includes historic buildings and varied terrain, we provide access wherever possible, a carpark, public toilets, and friendly staff to assist your access needs. Garden updates
For the month of January 2026, residents of the postcode 3936 can receive FREE garden entry to Heronswood. Proof of residency is required upon arrival. Offer valid for cardholder only, normal garden entry fee of $15.00 applies for additional guests.

The Gardens
Heronswood is the home of The Diggers Foundation, a living catalogue of garden treasures showcasing all that can be found in Diggers Club magazines and books.
Heronswood Garden & cafe is free for Diggers members and children under 16. Entry to the garden & cafe is $15 for visitors. There is no entry charge to visit the garden shop and nursery.
For the safety of our visitors, the garden, nursery and shop will be closed on days rated Catastrophic fire danger by the CFA for Central fire district and during high wind events (sustained winds of 63km/h+ or gusts of 90km/h+).
Well-behaved dogs are welcome to enjoy our gardens with you. Please keep them on a leash and clean up after them so everyone can enjoy the beauty of our space.

Heronswood Café
We are excited to announce that our cafe is now open in our historic Heronswood house. Dogs are welcome in the outdoor dining area.

Garden Tours
Every Friday morning at 10 am
Join Lead Gardener, Sarah Penno as she reveals the history behind the design of this iconic Mediterranean garden and its specific pockets of plants.
Explore the newly established seed trial garden with Sarah and learn about the process of selecting the varieties that the Diggers Club has worked hard to bring to Australian gardeners.
See Diggers plants growing in-situ in this marvelous living collection. Shaded by heritage trees, gently winding paths reveal beautiful views of Port Phillip Bay and beyond.
Non–members $25 includes tour and garden entry. Members $15 includes tour and garden entry.
15 people maximum capacity.
Tours run for 45mins.
Group Garden Tours
We’d love to welcome your group to explore our gardens.
Group and Garden tours are available for 15 or more people and must be pre-booked in advance.

For groups smaller than 15, a minimum booking fee of $75 applies to weekday bookings only.
