Set on the Mornington Peninsula, Heronswood is a historic garden filled with heirloom plants, productive kitchen gardens and seasonal displays. Wander through the grounds to discover rare plants, inspiring planting combinations and sweeping views across Port Phillip Bay.

Garden

Heronswood is the home of The Diggers Foundation, a living catalogue of garden treasures showcasing all that can be found in Diggers Club magazines and books. Heronswood Garden and cafe is free for Diggers members and children under 16. Entry to the garden and cafe is $15 for visitors.

Café

Step inside the historic Heronswood House, where the original character of this remarkable 19th-century home provides a beautiful setting for the Heronswood Café. After exploring the garden, settle in for coffee, cake or a light lunch and enjoy a little piece of Heronswood’s history from inside the house itself.

Nursery & garden shop 

Our nursery and garden shop is filled with seasonal plants, rare and heirloom varieties, seeds and garden essentials to inspire your own patch. Browse plants selected for Australian gardens, discover something a little different for your collection, or chat with our knowledgeable team for advice on what to grow next. There is no entry charge to visit the garden shop and nursery.

Garden tours

Last Friday of the month - 10.30 am

Join Jane Hancox as she reveals the history behind the design of this iconic Mediterranean garden and its specific pockets of plants. Explore the newly established seed trial garden with Jane and learn about the process of selecting the varieties that the Diggers Club has worked hard to bring to Australian gardeners.

See Diggers plants growing in-situ in this marvelous living collection. Shaded by heritage trees, gently winding paths reveal beautiful views of Port Phillip Bay and beyond.

Non–members $25 includes tour and garden entry.
Members $15 includes tour and garden entry.

15 people maximum capacity. Tours run for 45mins.

We’d love to welcome your group to explore our gardens. Group and Garden tours are available for 10 or more people and must be pre-booked in advance.

For groups smaller than 15, a minimum booking fee of $75 applies to weekday bookings only.
