Amy C. Duncan is a highly regarded professional illustrator and former custom tattooist who began her career with a tattoo apprenticeship in her hometown of Adelaide. A growing passion for botanical and natural history themes evolved in her bespoke designs but it was during her time living and working in the Dandenong Ranges, Vic., surrounded by nature and inspiring gardens such as Cloudehill, that she fell in love with botanical illustration.
Spanning more than 20 years, Amy credits her career with evolving through ‘a profound sense of wonder at creation and an artistic temperament that favours documentary realism over imagination’. Amy intuitively captures the real-life miracles she sees everywhere in the world around her. Unhurried in the process, she devotes all the time that is needed to create her beautifully expressive art, using coloured pencils, ink pen and water colour.
In what seemed like a natural partnership, Diggers and Amy have collaborated to create our new premium botanically themed limited product range featuring Amy’s exceptional artistic representations of 12 of our most loved and iconic heirloom varieties. Amy was delighted to take on the challenge, connecting to the special characteristics and storied history of our precious heirloom fruit, flower and vegetable treasures – including those passed down through generations of gardeners such as Pea ‘Frank’s’, preserved by Diggers for all to share.
The twelve illustrations of Diggers’ most loved and iconic varieties come alive with Amy’s meticulous attention to detail and contemporary style featuring strong colour and striking definition.

Her 12 designs are featured in our range of quality tea towels, magnets, greeting cards and tote bags. The highlight of the collection marks the return of a much-loved Diggers item - our 2027 Heirloom calendar.
Featuring Amy’s original 12 art works, the calendar includes seeds to sow by month and is printed on premium paper stock with images designed for framing as beautiful individual art pieces.
