Solanum lycopersicum L.

A favourite Italian heirloom tomato with a voluptuous shape, heavily ribbed fruit and excellent flavour. We've dubbed it 'Granny's Throwing' in honour of Australian Cartoon legend Michael Leunig who said it inspired him to create an iconic cartoon of "a granny winding up to launch this old fashioned throwing tomato, with cricket ball sized fruit, mushy flesh and powerful staining properties that would splatter magnificently at a passing politician". Whilst we don't encourage the hurling of fruit, we love the stories and history associated with Australian humor and heirloom fruits and vegetables, and this one is indeed, just like Granny...
