Teucrium marum
Commonly known as the Cat Thyme, this low growing Teucrium variety can be easily shaped to form tight balls or allowed to flower, showcasing its contrasting, one sided spikes of petite mauve-pink flowers. Flowering from December to April, this no-fuss perennial makes a wonderful small hedge for pathways and border edges or as a contrasting feature to offset other coloured foliage and flowers in the garden or rockery.
How to grow
Full sun, adaptable to a range of soil types, as long as they are free-draining. Drought, heat and wind tolerant, it is ideal in exposed or coastal conditions. Shear back once or twice a year after flowering to keep compact. Remove old growth and spent flowers.
