Tagasaste (Tree Lucerne)
Tagasaste was first grown in the Adelaide Botanic Gardens in 1879 from seeds shared by the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew. Grown in its native habitat of the Canary Islands as a windbreak and for animal fodder, farmers in both Australia and New Zealand have also utilised this fast growing tree for its ability to provide shelter and animal fodder in a wide range of climates and conditions.
How to grow
Soak in hot water for 24 hours before sowing, then coat with inoculant prior to sowing.
