Stachyurus praecox
A large deciduous spreading shrub with an elegant upright and arching habit. From winter to early spring butter yellow bell-shaped blooms appear along racemes up to 8cm in length. With flowering beginning before foliage appears in spring this variety makes an eye-catching addition to the winter garden. Will grow in full sun to part shade. Grows to 3m tall. Can be trained or espaliered to great effect as leaves turn rosy and golden in autumn extending the season of interest for this variety.
