Sensitive Plant
A legume grown as a curio, the leaves take up to an hour to reveal themselves fully again after collapsing. Often studied by scientists due to its unique response to various stimuli, this tropical plant grows easily from seed and is found naturalised in many areas of Queensland. Potentially invasive in areas of disturbed soil in high summer rainfall areas. Best suited to pots.
Soak seed for 24 hours prior to sowing. Sow on the surface of seed raising mix. Do not cover with soil. Keep seed and moist. Seed should germinate in 1-3 weeks from sowing at 18 degrees C.
