Salvia nemorosa subsp. 'Tesquicola'
New introduction from the St Erth border Salvia nemorosa subsp. 'Tesquicola' is a herbaceous perennial 60-80cm, with purple spikes in spring and summer. A taller variety to 80cm, producing many spikes of purple flowers and crimson bracts throughout summer. Bees enjoy these flowers.
Plant in full sun in free-draining soil. Remove spent flowers regularly to encourage repeat flowering. Regular watering will be required to extend the flowering season. Prune back hard after flowering has finished in summer, especially if plants have become floppy.
