Product information

"My husband and I purchased a quarter-acre block of land in Wynnum in 1971, where this pumpkin was already growing. We enjoyed it so much that we saved the seeds and have continued growing it ever since."

What we love most about this pumpkin is its excellent flavour and dry, dense texture. Unlike other varieties, it is never watery, making it ideal for cooking and eating. Its quality and reliability became such an important part of our gardening that when we moved in 1999 to a much smaller 400-square-metre block, one of our priorities was ensuring there was still enough space to grow our pumpkin and maintain our productive vegetable garden.

Grow the vines vertically on trellises, and because the fruit is relatively small, it does not require additional support. The plants are highly productive, with a single vine capable of producing up to 20 pumpkins in a season.

An excellent all-purpose cooking pumpkin suitable for steaming, soups, baked and grating into quiches and savoury dishes.

Seeds kindly donated by Marjorie McCallum.
