This prized, long flowering South African pelargonium is the recipient of an RHS Award of Garden Merit. With heart-shaped, velvety silver-grey leaves with scalloped edges, it is much admired for both foliage and flower, along with its beneficial root extract used for centuries to treat respiratory conditions. Small butterfly-shaped crimson red flowers float gracefully on wiry stems above fragrant foliage from summer to winter. A perfect front of border, rockery or container plant in a sunny, free-draining position.
Performs best in full sun and free-draining soils of moderate fertility, with some afternoon shade in hot climates. drought-tolerant once established but will benefit from supplementary watering in extended dry periods. Deadhead regularly to prolong flowering and trim to shape after flowering to maintain compact habit.
