20th Century also known as Nijisseiki by the Japanese who introduced this pear to the world early last century blends an apple-like texture with the taste of a pear. As with most things out of Japan the tree is a neat specimen with a symmetrical habit. Best eaten fresh when tree ripened but can be used for juice when the crop is too heavy to consume.
