This heirloom originated about 1870 as a chance seedling on the farm of John Briggs, near Yuba City, California. Peach 'Brigg’s Red May' is an early-season beauty, bursting with juicy, sweet, red-blushed flesh. Self-fertile and reliable, it crops heavily with sun-ripened fruit straight from the tree and performs beautifully in backyard orchards.

How to grow

Plant Brigg’s Red May in a sunny, sheltered spot with well-drained soil. Keep soil evenly moist while establishing, feed lightly in spring, and prune annually to maintain an open canopy and encourage fruiting.
