Multiflora Pink Rose

A profusion of apple-blossom-pink flowers in spring smother this vigorous self-supporting rose. Also commonly referred to as a ‘wild rose’, this old-world rambling rose is superb for hedging and has lush pale green foliage. Flowers are reminiscent of apple blossoms and have a strong musky scent. Multiflora roses will flower in summer for a period of around 4 weeks and they have pinkish to white petals with dark yellow stamens. After flowering, the heads will produce that ever-famous hip. The Multiflora rose is a strong grower and tolerant of hot, dry and wet conditions. MULTIFLORA, C.1804.

How to grow

Plant in an open, sunny position (at least 5-6 hours of direct sunlight each day), in free-draining, neutral soil that is rich in organic matter. Water deeply to encourage strong roots when establishing and provide supplementary watering during dry periods. Roses are heavy feeders and will benefit from organic fertiliser, twice-yearly in heavy soils (spring and late summer) or four times in sandy soil. Prune with hedging shears to encourage, dense compact growth. Prune hard in late-winter for size and shape. Tie or fan canes into position.
