Variegated Mugwort
A hardy and vigorous shrub with small white flowers and creamy variegated foliage that has been used for it's medicinal purposes for centuries but is now commonly used in meat stuffing mixes and as an insect repellent due to it's slightly bitter taste. Mugwort will grow in sunny, dry conditions and will tolerate drought and frost. Remove flowers prior to seeding to prevent spreading, cut back hard and fertilise after flowering to promote new growth and keep the plant looking it's best. Grows over 1m and can prune to keep dense.
Mugwort prefers a sunny site in a dry soil. It is tolerant of drought and just about any growing conditions. Mugwort can run away so the flowers should be removed prior to seed set. Hard prune after flowering and regular fertilisering will keep it looking its best.
