Mt Spurgeon Black Pine
This incredibly rare and precious rainforest conifer has delicate fern-like foliage, similar to English yew, making it especially beautiful indoors and perfect to decorate as a Christmas tree or train as a bonsai. An ancient evergreen native conifer with an upright habit that’s endemic to the Atherton Tablelands and produces blueberry-like fruits. Prefers low light conditions and will tolerate salt and moderate frost once established. Slow growth rate.
Plant in a sunny or semi-shaded protected position in well drained moist soil, enriched with organic matter. Tolerates light frost and salty conditions once established. Prefers acid or neutral soils, grows well in sandy to clay loam and in good quality potting media.
