Cornflower 'Classic Magic'
A dazzling twist on the much-loved cottage favourite, Cornflower ‘Classic Magic’ blooms in a beautiful blend of purples and mauves, from soft lavender to rich violet tones. These hardy annuals thrive in poor soils, bloom abundantly through spring and summer, and are perfect for cutting gardens, borders, or wildflower displays. Cornflowers are best grown direct from seed, sown where they are to flower in full sun and well-drained soil. Sow in early spring or autumn, scattering seeds thinly and covering lightly with soil. Keep soil moist until germination, usually within 7–14 days. Thin seedlings to 20–30cm apart to allow strong growth. Hardy and tolerant of poor soils, cornflowers require little care once established. Regular picking will encourage continuous blooms throughout the season, rewarding you with masses of purple and mauve flowers for the vase and garden.
