A French heirloom carrot dating back to the late 1880s, this short, fat carrot is perfect for heavy or shallow soils, pushing its way through soils that other carrots simply would not tolerate. Excellent for beginner gardeners or those still working on their soils, this short variety is also suitable for pots and container gardening. Excellent flavour, slow to run to seed and stores well. Also sometimes referred to as the Guerande carrot after the walled town in western France where it was said to originate.
