Canary Island Smokebush
Growing in the dry garden at St Erth this bush produces masses of white fluffy flowers during Summer. Great in dry and coastal gardens growing to 2 metres in well drained soils. Interesting grey silver foliage with minty smell. Summer flowers rise above the foliage in light grey plumes, creating a smokey effect.
This plant is a tough survivor, even in less ideal conditions. Excellent choice for coastal gardens or exposed gardens. Prefers full sun but will also grow in part shade. Canary Island Smoke Bush is very easily grown in a wide variety of soils. It is also tolerant of a wide range of soil pH, from acid to alkaline. Prefers good drainage and so is not suitable for permanently waterlogged positions.
