Agastache 'Blue Fortune'

Agastache rugosa 'Blue Fortune'

Elegant spikes, laden with soft powder-blue flowers, are held over deliciously fragrant foliage for months on end. Wonderful in the dry summer garden when combined with the many apricot forms of hummingbird mint (agastache). ‘Blue Fortune’ is the perfect companion to taller coneflowers, a combination that mimics the airy haze of the great American prairies. Flowers can even be added to summer salads for a mild liquorice flavour.

Agastache 'Blue Fortune'

A favourite of the Heronswood border, Agastache 'Blue Fortune' is as reliable as it is beautiful. Its sublime powder-blue tubular flower spikes provide a profusion of colour for many months, perfectly complementing pastel coloured perennials and straw coloured grasses late into summer. Adored by bees, birds and insects, also known as Hummingbird Mint or Hyssop, Agastaches are a must have to bring biodiversity and pollinators to the garden. Fabulously fragrant, anise scented foliage is an added bonus - plant beside a path where it can be brushed up against and use the leaves for steeping in teas. Suits naturalistic style planting schemes, cottage or coastal gardens.
How to grow

Agastaches are hardy summer flowering perennials. Plant in full sun in a well drained soil. Drought tolerant once established, though will benefit from supplementary watering during extended dry periods. Deadhead regularly to prolong flowering and prune back to a low mound in winter or early spring.
