Workshop

Create your own
festive wreath

Brought to you by The Diggers Club

Your Workshop

Prepare for the festive season with Domenica Vavala, floral designer and artist as she guides you through the making of a festive wreath using both dried and fresh locally sourced flora and foliage. Invite a friend and catch up while learning from a true artist. Domenica’s work draws on a love of floriculture, natural history, sustainability and the organic forms of Japanese and Korean floral design. You will leave with a beautiful, sustainable festive door wreath, all ready for the silly season. All flowers and foliage have been sourced from the Diggers three award-winning gardens.

This Workshop is designed to teach you everything you need to know to design and create a sustainable wreath for summer!

What will you learn?

  • How to create a strong mechanical base for your wreath and the art of securing flora
  • Selection of flora, foliage, grasses and seed pods that are suitable for wreath making
  • The symmetry of wreath design
  • Considerations when practicing sustainable floristry

The Location

Featuring over 4 acres of food, cottage and bush gardens each season provides different delights and inspiration to both experienced and aspiring gardeners. The gardens are filled with plants which thrive in central Victoria's cold winters and hot dry summers. A huge range of daffodils, hellebores and other flowering bulbs bring the garden to life in spring.

Visitors can admire the colour and beauty of our perennial flower borders throughout summer and autumn with hardy, long flowering perennials creating an amazing cottage garden display amongst our Australian bush setting.

The Garden has been certified organic since 2008 and Digger's range of perennials, bulbs and heirloom vegetables are grown at St Erth using the best organic methods. Seasonal produce from our kitchen gardens is served at St Erth cafe throughout the year.
