Spring trials expression of interest form

By joining our trials, you will trial selected varieties and submit your feedback on how they performed in your garden.
This information will help us: 

  • collect the growing information of these varieties in different climates and growing conditions. 
  • help us to determine the eligibility of certain varieties for inclusion or exclusion in the Diggers heirloom range.

This offer is only open to 50 members from across Australia so register now!

Step 1

Each participant will receive a trials pack that includes:

  • The 3 varieties
  • Labels
  • Data Collection sheet
  • Information on how to submit their finding online

Step 2

Participants in the trials program can select crops they would feel comfortable growing out and trialing. Diggers will then randomly assign 3 varieties from that crop type for them to grow out. This year you can choose between:

  • Tomatoes
  • Lettuce
  • Beans

Step 3

Participants will sow and grow the varieties, taking periodic observations, and evaluate each variety using a set criteria which includes key characteristics such as:

  • Yield
  • Flavour
  • Appearance
  • Time to fruit
  • Disease tolerance and more

Step 4

Participants will then be required to enter and submit their findings online through our easy to use form.

How do I apply? 

To register your interest, please email seeds@diggers.com.au and provide your name, suburb, postcode, Diggers membership number and the reason why you would like to be a volunteer grower in our trials program.

The 50 successful participants will be contacted directly.

Registration closes 31 July 2023 with trial packs send out during the first week of August 2023.
