Part 4: Brambleberries, Blueberries, Gooseberries & Currants

The rubus genus contains the brambleberries that produce fruits on canes that grow from the crown of the plant.

Brambleberries provide an impressive yield of early summer fruit from a relatively small space and once established are reasonably easy to manage.

Blueberries are primarily grown for their berries, but also make wonderful garden or hedging plants. The most critical factor to growing successful blueberries is the soil. 

Gooseberries and currants are very closely related, being members of the same genus Ribes, however they do have a few major differences.
