Dahlia 'Turkish Delight' (1 Tuber)

Vibrant red blooms with delicate golden brushstrokes at the centre of the petals.

Our dahlia plants may not look their best right now—and that’s completely natural. As they enter their dormancy period, the foliage dies back, but beneath the surface the tuber is still very much alive and healthy.

Each pot contains a well-established dahlia tuber, carefully grown and ready to burst back into vigorous growth when the warmer months return. By purchasing now, you’re getting a strong, mature plant already settled in its pot—ready to reshoot and thrive next season with minimal effort.

Think of it as investing in next season’s beauty: what you see now is simply the plant resting, storing energy for an even better display to come.

How to grow

Dahlias require well composted soil, some sun and water then once established harvest flowers regularly to promote more. In preparation for tuber planting add organic compost and fertiliser to your beds Dahlias are frost sensitive plants. Plant them out in spring after your last frost. Dahlia tubers should be planted on their sides, with the eye facing up about 10cm deep. spacing of each tuber is 40cm apart and thy require support as they grow. No water or fertiliser until there is growth visible above the ground, there is enough energy stored in the tuber for initial stages of growth. Watering too early can cause your tuber to rot instead of growing in some circumstances. Tubers should only be lifted after foliage has died back completely. Lift the crown and tubers together. Each division will requires its own crown, most easily recognised by any old stems remaining attached. Keep lifted tubers in a cool, dark position, protected with a little peat or shredded newspaper from drying out.
