Miracle Tree
Known as the "drumstick tree", Moringa is a fast-growing tropical species whose leaves, flowers and young pods are traditionally consumed in many cultures. An attractive and productive garden plant, it is valued for its edible harvests and vigorous growth in warm conditions.
To germinate seed, soak seed overnight in water. The next day, peel open the outer shell to reveal the pea-like seed inside. You can either plant in seed raising mix or pre- germinate in a container with some moistened paper towel. If pre-germinating, sit the seeds on top of the paper towel and place a lid on the container. Within a week seed should germinate and can be planted into a pot in seed raising mix. Be careful not to damage the tender new shoots. They do not need to be deep. Alternatively, sow seed in seed raising mix and place in a propagation unit or container to germinate in a humid environment.
