Loquat
Loquat grows as a small to medium-sized tree, typically reaching 3–8 metres in height with a rounded, spreading canopy. Its large, leathery leaves are deep green with a slightly fuzzy underside, giving the tree a lush, textured appearance year-round. In late autumn to winter, clusters of small, creamy-white flowers appear, releasing a sweet fragrance. These are followed by oval to pear-shaped fruits in spring, ranging from yellow to orange, with juicy flesh that has a refreshing, mildly acidic sweetness.
Prefers a sunny position and well-drained soil, but is adaptable once established. Water regularly while young; low maintenance thereafter. Tolerates light frost but benefits from protection when flowering.
