Watercress 'Large Leaf'
With one of the highest antioxidant levels of any vegetable, you will be hard-pressed to find a food that is more health-giving. A noted appetite stimulant with high vitamin C content, watercress will help lower lipid (fat) levels and scavenge free radicals, all this at the same time as giving sandwiches and salads a delightful mild peppery flavour. It grows easily in moist soil or by water.
How to grow
Contrary to popular belief, watercress does not have to be grown in running water, it can be grown in moist garden beds or in a pot, placed in a pond. Pinch out the flowers to prolong harvest times.
