Tomato 'Uncle Tony's La Stupenda'
Our newest introduction and Diggers exclusive is ‘Uncle Tony’s La Stupenda’. Donated to The Diggers Club by Internationally renowned Australian artist and photographer Bill Henson, this is Bill’s Uncle Tony Caruso;s tomato which was originally brought out to Australia, from Italy, in the 1970’s. A prized family heirloom, Clive Blazey originally tasted it in 2019 and after trialling it in our own gardens, we are pleased to offer this high yielding beefsteak to Diggers Members. Best suited to sauces and passatas due to its high flesh to seed ratio, the average size of the fruit is between 500-600 grams, with some fruit reaching a whopping 800 grams!
