Squash 'Jaune et Verte' (Organic)
Picked young, the flesh is sweet and buttery. The tender skin cooks to lime green. Compact variety producing scalloped fruit over a long period. This French heirloom created much excitement amongst those of us who were previously unconvinced about the merits of growing squash. Harvest from 7 weeks, yields 3kg per plant.
Plant in soil, deeply dug with well rotted manure and compost. Keep well watered and they will produce for the entire summer. Bush varieties save ground space and are easy in large pots, where as running vines like pumpkins and tromboncino can be trained to climb a trellis, tripod or pergola.
