Pink Valerian
This old-world favourite valerian is a spring stalwart, producing huge airy heads of sweetly scented reddish-pink flowers over a long period. The colourful display and blue-green fleshy foliage combine well with most cottage plants, particularly spring flowering bearded iris. Centranthus will repeat flower in autumn if trimmed back after its peak spring flush. The ultimate low maintenance perennial, needing nothing more than deadheading for continuous blooms. Self seeds readily.
Adaptable to almost all soils and positions in the garden, but prefers full sun to half shade in free-draining , alkaline, impoverished to moderate soil. Extremely dry, heat, coast and frost tolerant, this tough, easy care plant requires low to no maintenance to thrive in a range of conditions. Deadhead to promote flowering and inhibit prolific self seeding.
