Marigold 'Strawberry Blonde'
A compact marigold that readily complements the pastel garden. Also suitable as a companion plant, their strong aroma repels many pests, making them a valuable asset in the organic garden. They also attract beneficial insects like ladybugs and lacewings, which prey on harmful pests, and help to improve soil health.
Growing marigolds from seed is easy. Simply begin by selecting a sunny location with well-drained soil. Sow the seeds at a depth of about 6 millimeters and keep the soil consistently moist until germination, which usually takes around 7-14 days. Once the seedlings emerge, thin them to maintain a spacing of 20-30 centimeters apart to ensure healthy growth. Marigolds thrive in full sunlight, requiring at least 6-8 hours of direct sun daily. Regular watering is essential, particularly during dry spells. Deadheading spent flowers promotes continuous blooming throughout the season.
