Hellebore 'Snowflake'
Helleborus niger has a reputation for being a little more difficult to grow than Helleborus x hybridus cultivars. Needing cold conditions, they are best suited to the cool, elevated regions of southern Australia.
How to grow
Hellebores are resilient garden plants and are best grown in the ground. Plant in part shade and water regularly during dry periods and establishment. Remove old foliage when new growth appears in autumn. Apply a mulch of well-rotted manure or quality compost at this time too. Watch for aphids and spray if necessary. Deadhead spent flowers to encourage increased flowering.
