The demand for the Dutch Iris came from commercial growers and florists. Their history dates to 1564 where they were discovered in Spain and were originally known as Spanish Iris. They were eventually planted in Holland and their name was changed to Dutch iris and their popularity has grown from there. Dutch Iris are known for their colourful and elegant blooms in shades of blue, yellow, purple, and white. They are native to the Mediterranean and are popular because they are easy to grow, require minimal maintenance, and reliably flower year after year in late spring to early summer. Suitable for use in garden beds, borders, and cut-flower arrangements. Dutch Iris are a reliable, low-maintenance and long-lasting addition to any garden or landscape.
How to grow
Dutch Iris is a bulbous hardy perennial that prefer a full sun position in a well-drained soil which will make them thrive. They are low maintenance and easy to grow and can be left in the ground year after year. They can produce up to 2 flowers on each stem.
