Bean 'Snake' Yard Long

A bean that's actually a pea, these tender annuals produce long stingless pods, usually between 30-60cm in length. Harvest as the pod begins to firm and the beans inside become visible from the outside (about 2 weeks after flowering). Popular in the Tropics and Sub-Tropics where they can be grown year round, water regularly in southern areas. Stake at sowing. Harvest in 12-15 weeks. Yields around 200 grams per plant.

How to grow

Grow as you would other beans. Fast growing tender annuals, plant in full sun in a soil enriched with organic matter witha pH between 5.5-7.5. Sow seed direct when soil temperature is between 16-29 degrees C and there is no likelihood of frost. Stake at sowing. Seed should germinate within 6-15 days and seedlings should be protected from snails and slugs. Water regularly and when plants start cropping, pick daily to maximise your harvest.
