Algerian Oak
The Algerian Oak is found throughout the Mediterranean basin, forming a broad canopy of evergreen lobed leaves, similar to the English Oak. Semi-deciduous in cooler climates. Dry-tolerant and fire-resistant, plant these as a future fire buffer and then welcome the glorious summer shade they provide.
How to grow
Plant in full sun, with regular watering during establishment. More drought tolerant than English Oak, trees grow quickly to 12m before slowing. Suits a broad, open space.
