Technique for a good winter compost

A great technique for a good winter compost is making sure that you have your inputs ratio right.

So behind me you can see there's the cut back grasses from our gardens here at St Erth, provide great carbon.

Now in Winter, you want to always have a good carbon and nitrogen ratio so basically that's the brown dry stuff and the green wet stuff.

Roughly 70 percent of your mix should be the brown stuff very important over winter because it's so much colder and wetter.

It does need to be turned in winter, a great tip is turn more often go from two weeks to every week in turn, make sure you're getting oxygen in there and you are creating that process that creates the heat and keeps your compost going over the cold months.
