Welcome to December!

December is here which marks the start of summer. It’s a time of festivities, summer BBQ’s and spending more time outdoors. Follow these summer gardening tips if you wish to have more time for your loved ones while keeping your garden resilient against the intense summer heat.

December Top Tips

#1 Sweet potato

Plant some Sweet Potato. These vines love the sun and prefer a position with free- draining soil. They like meandering through beds or climbing up a trellis.

#2 Green manure crop

Consider a green manure crop to improve the structure and fertility of your soil. Try a mix of cow pea, mung bean, soybean and millet.

#3 Prune trees

Prune back trees by a third to shape up and help prevent water loss and wind damage.

#4 Cuttings

Take cuttings from your perennial herbs- mint, bergamot, bee balm, thyme, rosemary and oregano will strike well.
