Citrus leaf miner is a small moth that lays its eggs on tender new foliage. These eggs hatch into larvae that tunnel into the leaves, creating silvery trails and causing the leaves to distort. Unfortunately, once the leaves are twisted the damage is permanent, until the leaves naturally fall from the tree.

So, prevention is the key! Spraying your citrus tree with Eco-oil or Neem oil now can prevent the moth from laying new eggs. You can attract parasitic wasps and lacewings, the natural predators of citrus leaf miner by planting beneficial attracting plants such as dill, coriander, Queen Anne’s lace, fennel, tansy, alyssum, parsley, marigold, and thyme. Lastly, control infestations by removing any affected leaves that may be hiding pupae.

Spring is the perfect opportunity to plant a lemon tree at your place, or other delicious citrus like mandarins, oranges, and limes. It will take 2-3 years for good harvests to start, but it’s worth the wait. Choose the sunniest spot, in well drained soil, to grow citrus.
