Tulipa fosteriana 'Princeps'With short stems and bold colours, this red rockery tulip is perfect for gardens as its short stem is less likely to break, snap or droop. Plant in drifts to create a river of colour in even the windiest gardens. More hardy than most tulip hybrids, the stunning large blooms are scarlet red with a hint of yellow at the base. Rockery Tulip 'Princeps' (3 Bulbs)
'Princeps' is a species rockery tulip which originated in the mountains of Central Asia. Only growing to a height of 20cm the surprisingly large blooms make a bold statement in the garden or in pots. Flowers open during the day in the sun and close again in the early evening.
Easy to care for perennial that can be planted 10 to 15cm deep in a well-drained soil in part sun to part shade. If you live in warm climates, you will need to place your bulbs in the fridge for 4 to 6 weeks before planting. After flowering and all leaves have turned brown, remove the bulb from the soil. You then store the bulb in a cool, dry and airy position. It’s a good idea to wrap it in some newspaper or a brown-paper bag.
