Salvia 'Royal Bumble'
Large, vibrant red flowers offset by purple-black calyces and dark stems bloom over a long period from late spring to autumn and stand tall above glossy green foliage. A fantastic choice for attracting birds and pollinators to your garden, this eye catching salvia holds the Award of Garden Merit from the Royal Horticultural Society. Frost and drought tolerant, Salvia ‘Royal Bumble’ is well suited to most Australian gardens including coastal areas. A worthy inclusion in any hot coloured scheme where its vibrant red flowers and dense, evergreen foliage adds structure to the middle of the border.
Plant in a soil enriched with compost and organic matter. Drought tolerant once established, enjoys a raised bed and regular watering during establishment. Best grown in full sun but will tolerate some light shade. Prune back by one third after flowering has finished to maintain a more compact growth habit. Fertilise in spring to improve overall vigour.
