Radish 'French Breakfast' (Organic)

Raphanus sativus
Organic

An heirloom favourite since the 1880s, these elongated radishes got their name from their availability at Parisian markets, and the universal popularity of radishes around the world as a breakfast item of the time. Regardless of their origin, these oblong rose-scarlet radishes have remained popular to this day due to their crisp white flesh and mildly flavour. Harvest in just 35 days when roots are still small. Undeniably one of our most popular winter radishes and rated well in our radish taste tests.

Radish 'French Breakfast' (Organic)

A popular heirloom radish which has been sown and grown around the world since the late 1800s. The Romans, Victorians, Dutch and Americans all ate radishes for breakfast in one way or another, and these, from elongated radishes from Paris with their mild flavour, were always the radish of choice. While radishes can be grown year round, this variety does exceptionally well throughout the cooler months.
How to grow

Radishes are closely related to cabbages, so their requirements are much the same. It is essential to sow radishes thinly, about one seed every 5cm, any closer and they may fail to develop an adequate root for harvesting. The young leaves can be used in salads. Grow radishes with plenty of water and nutrients, as hot, dry weather causes hot, pithy roots. Sow with carrots to maximise space in your garden as radishes will be harvested before your carrots develop their true form. Members of the Brassica family, protect from cabbage moth and caterpillars. Sow new seed every 3-4 weeks to maintain a continual harvest.
