Orange Peel Thyme
A small perennial herb with glossy green leaves and a strong, sweet fragrance reminiscent of oranges. Ideal as a ground cover in rockeries and between stepping stones. Produces pink or lilac-colored flowers in the summer. Orange peel thyme is often used in cooking as a seasoning for meat and vegetable dishes, as well as in teas and other beverages. It is also believed to have medicinal properties and is used in traditional medicine to treat respiratory ailments and digestive issues.
Full sun, free-draining soil. A low-maintenance, easy-to-grow, spreading ground cover. Cut back after flowering or when plants become woody to encourage compact, fresh, new growth. Mulch with aged compost in spring.
