Mountain Cabbage Tree

Cussonia paniculata

A small evergreen tree from South Africa, boasting wonderfully lobed silver foliage. Used effectively by Andrew Laidlaw at the base of Guilfoyle's Volcano in the Melbourne Botanic Gardens. Sculptural stems branch after the first flowering, and form a bulbous caudex at the base. This dramatic plant will accent any dry or subtropical garden.
