Dahlia 'Yellow Hammer' (1 Tuber)

Dahlia hybrida 'Yellow Hammer'

DAHLIA BARE ROOT TUBER. A striking dark foliage plant, this dahlia creates contrast in the garden, even before the soft buttercup flowers appear in late spring and early summer. Aging to peachy-orange in the hot summer sun, this dahlia is a stunning addition to the garden and perennial border. Divide in winter when the first leaf buds are visible.

Dahlia 'Yellow Hammer' (1 Tuber)

A standout garden dahlia in our hot coloured border at Heronswood, the combination of dark foliage and vibrant blooms brings form, feature and contrast to the garden for much of the year. Not just for a vase, this dahlia is a valuable addition to the perennial garden.
How to grow

An excellent summer flowering plant for pots or the flower garden. Dead-head spent flowers to keep the new ones coming. Dies down to dormant underground tubers in the winter. Leave tubers in situ and only lift when required every 3-5 years to renew vigour and flower performance. Tubers should only be lifted after foliage has died back completely. Lift the crown and tubers together. Each division will requires its own crown, most easily recognised by any old stems remaining attached. Keep lifted tubers in a cool, dark position, protected with a little peat or shredded newspaper from drying out. Replant tubers after the last risk of frost, ideally when plants are just beginning to show new shoots.
