Your Masterclass

In this masterclass, each participant will develop a beautiful botanical illustration using pen and ink with a wash of watercolour. In this relaxed and informative session, the techniques used to create this botanical artwork will be clearly demonstrated. We will discuss some basic colour theory allowing participants to create vibrant artwork using basic primary colours.

By attending this class, you will be introduced to the wonderful world of botanical art and illustration. Once you've finished your artwork, you will have the skills to further develop artwork in this style. Pen and ink pens, watercolour paper and pigments will be provided on the day for you to use.

Your Presenter

David Reynolds is an award-winning Australian watercolour artist and tutor with the Royal Botanic Gardens Melbourne and Nature in Art at Park Orchards. He specialises in Australian flora and fauna, exotic plants, and wildlife. He has botanical artwork represented in the Victorian State Botanical Collection of the Royal Botanic Gardens, and in private collections in Australia and overseas.

David enjoys teaching botanical and natural history art to local, national, and international students as well as conducting specialist workshops in regional Victoria and interstate. David received an Honourable Mention Award in the 2022 Celia Rosser Medal.
