As seedlings tend to run to seed (or bolt) if transplanted, sow directly into the garden
These vegetables thrive in a fertile, well-drained soil
Dig in compost or manure, as well as blood and bone, before planting
Make some shallow grooves no more than 1cm deep and about 30cm apart,
Sow sparsely, backfilling with soil to cover the seeds
