One third of the world’s food is wasted. It is a global challenge with significant economic and environmental impacts, producing 8% of global greenhouse gas emissions.

If Food Loss and Waste (FLW) was a country, it would be the third largest greenhouse gas emitter, behind the U.S. and China, at 44.4 gigatonnes per annum. From an Australian perspective:

  • Australians use around 2,628 gigalitres of water to grow food that is wasted, meaning that eliminating this food waste would effectively save a massive 286 litres of water, per person, per day. ...
