Honey Bush

A fascinating evergreen sprawling shrub, Melianthos major creates a jungle like effect as it rambles through the garden. Large pinnate blue-green leaves with serrated edges provide architectural interest, while contrasting tall spires of reddish brown tubular flowers have an alluring honey scent that attract birds and insects. A curio of the gardening world, Honeybush makes an eye-catching creature friendly feature.
How to grow

Full sun, well-drained soil with shelter from drying winds and excessive cold over winter. The plant will naturally slow and deteriorate through the colder months and is best cut back to the ground at this time to rejuvenate with fresh foliage emerging each spring. Heat and coast tolerant.
