Dwarf Black Mulberry 'Majestic'

'Majestic' is a compact dwarf variety of black mulberry that bears full-size fruit on a plant suited to small spaces and even container gardening. A small deciduous tree with delicious, fruits that ripen during the spring, Majestic is also a subtropical cultivar needing minimal winter chilling to crop and perform in the garden and landscape. Prune lightly in winter to maintain a compact habit and to stimulate fresh growth and improved spring fruiting. Mulberries, in general, are robust and adaptable trees growing well in most soils and conditions, from poorly drained soils to dry areas once established. This dwarf compact version, of what is generally considered a large sprawling deciduous tree, boasts an attractive form and is well-suited to container gardening and suburban backyards.
How to grow

Easy to grow and quick to establish, Mulberries are tolerant of a range of soils but are best planted in a soil enriched with compost and decomposed manure. Stake at planting if your position is open to winds. Apply a mulch of compost annually, as well as Fruit and Citrus fertiliser in spring. Prune if required to control growth, or let it form its natural spreading shape and enjoy the shade. Mulberries fruit on new season growth so prune after harvest to ensure optimal new shoots t improve next year's crop.
